You know what it's also based on? History! There actually were Black people in Japan in 1600. I'm not looking for random Black people to be wandering among the population or enen Black Samurai of which there was only one known prior to the shows setting. How about showing the slaves, servants, and minstrels among the Europeans? Clavell wrote plenty about the Europeans, why not show them in an accurate light? He wrote about the Jesuit priests who trafficked in Japanese and Korean slavery along with possessing African slaves. He had to have done the research to write the book. I'm asking more than ever, where are the Black people?
