The Premeditated Murder of Sonya Massey
Which always comes first, the release of video footage or the narrative the police want you to believe before any contrary evidence is released? The bodycam footage of the premeditated murder of Sonya Massey has just been released, which contradicts much of what was released previously in statements by police.
Even in this rare case where a police officer was arrested and charged with murder, explanations were offered that didn’t line up with the visual and audio evidence. We were told that the deputy was in fear for his life. We were told he was threatened by a woman with a pot of boiling water. There was an acknowledgment that she raised her hands and said, “I’m sorry,” before ducking behind a counter. We were also told Sonya stood back up with the pot of water, which she “threw at a chair.” After watching the video several times, I see that Sonya never made any move that could be considered a threat.
I call it premeditated murder because Sangamon County Sheriff’s Deputy Sean Grayson announced he was going to shoot Sonya “in the fucking face,” and seconds later, he did.
