Waiting On God’s Promises

Waiting on God’s promises is hard, and you will have to decide not just once but a thousand times if you truly believe or if was it only wishful thinking. There are multiple components involved in waiting on God’s promises.

One is waiting… like a child in a car, asking, “are we there yet?” We want the promise to be fulfilled immediately. Our selfishness shows when we want God’s promise to come in our time and not His. God has a plan, and His timing is an essential component of it. The most likely reason you are still waiting is that you are not yet ready to receive His gift, recognizing it as something that could only have come from God and not from your own skills.

A promise means different things to some of us. We are used to the promises of politicians, which often represent little, and we don’t need an explanation of what it means if someone’s fingers are crossed behind their back when making a promise. All promises are not created equal, but God’s promises stand above all others because He never disappoints if you continue to believe.

While waiting, there will be inevitable doubt. Was it truly a promise from God? Was it my imagination? Am I crazy? Why would I deserve this?
