Trump wasn’t inflating the worth of a property involved in a transaction. He was inflating the value of properties he owned, attempting to prop up his assets and make it look like he could pay back any loans by liquefying them. He was inferring he could cover his losses when in reality his empire was a house of cards. Conversely, when getting insurance, he’d devalue properties to keep the payments down, betting he’d never need insurance.
