While the root cause of many issues is indeed class instead of race. Race is the tool used to separate classes. This has been clear since Bacon’s Rebellion when Black indentured servants teamed up with white indentured servants, Black enslaved people, and other poor people to burn down Jamestown. The response was to invent whiteness and change the economic model from indentured servitude to enslavement. White people stopped being indentured servants and were elevated to whatever comes just above a slave in name only to feel better about themselves and not participate in future revolts.
