There are plenty of books and historians and books that discount the evils of slavery. One example would be the practice of buck-breaking, the sexual assault of Black males, which they readily acknowledge happened in the Caribbean but nobody admits happened here.
Regarding breeding farms, don’t look for farms set up solely to produce more slaves. Look for every plantation of size that caused bucks and breeders to mate and for the master or others to sleep with the slaves. Given the power differential, these were not romances; they were rapes. America hasn’t documented its abuses in this area though Thomas Jefferson spells it out in his “4% solution” letter to George Washington. Just look at the number of light-skinned Blacks that existed in the 1700s and 1800s. Proof of rape was all around. The aforementioned Thomas Jefferson had six kids via Sally Hemings himself.
