The very notion of intellectual honesty begins by working with facts and not “retouched” images. I don’t think a day goes by without some legislator claiming to follow in “The Founders” footsteps, giving them a deity-like status. You don’t seem to be claiming any of the information I bring up is false, just that we have no need to associate the actions of the Founders with the men and tarnish their images.
If the country had moved on and was no longer capable of deeds similar to those of the past there might be no need to bring them up. Alas, even in the present we’re advocating an immigration policy that locks up children and seeks to place a higher value on people that “will assimilate more quickly.” We ban people based on religion. After natural disasters, whether coincidence or not, Americans of color are in the back of the line. We have white nationalists in the aptly named White House.
I think we need to continue focusing on history, as forgetting it leaves us doomed to repeat it.
