The systemic racism for which reparations are due did not end with the great, great, grandfathers grandmothers of those living today. After slavert came the black codes, then Jim Crow which theoretically ended in the late 1960s but didn't Voter suppression lives on to this day. White people overwhelmingly benefit from generational wealth established via housing programs like FHA and VA that excluded Black people until recently. I don't want payments to come from individual wallets but the government who oversaw these programs. Redlining and steering all happened with tacit approval of the government as well as mass incarceration which allows slavery to this day via a loophole in the 13th Amendment.
