The rules of Western moral thought were changed in America when it decided that the children of enslaved people followed the bloodlines of the mother and every child of a enslaved female was a slave themselves, forever. Not only that, the father's had no responsibility, moral or financial. Rape was legal as well as murder. Then there was the forced breeding for the sale of enslaved people.
