That you see white people as victims of racism here is part of the proplem. The Starbucks goal was not to increase minority employment to the point where it exceeded their respective percentage of the population but to approach the systemic underrepresentation of minorities. I personally have never seen an affirmative action goal that didn't perpetuate the status quo and ultimately favor white people, basically saying, "this much and no more." On the other hand, many corporations and small firms, left to their own devices would hire based on their existing prejudices which is why affirmative action was required in the first place.
