Perhaps you haven't seen the Tyre Nichols videos, there was nothing he could have done to avoid police brutality. He was yanked out of his car before anyone said a word, he was told to "show his hands" while officers were holding his arms keeping him from doing so. He was told to "get on the ground" while on the ground. He had been tasered and pepper sprayed. With five men assaulting him without explanation, he feared for his life and ran, only to get caught and have them finish the job. Had the five been non-police gang members, running would seem perfectly understandable. Running from the police gang seems reasonable too. Police can kill when in fear for their lives, why can't Black men run for the same reason? He had no reason to believe he wasn't going to die already.
