"Ok so which is it? Black people have no to very few opportunities because of systemic oppression? Or a lot more opportunities in today’s society than ever before? How can they have more opportunities if there is still systemic oppression going on?"

Certainly some Black people are in poverty because of "self-inflicted wounds" just as some white people fail to prosper despite inherent advantages. Much of what occurs is related to class and not just race, thouce race has become a means to implement class warfare.

A lot of the personal wealth acquired in America is related to housing. Black people were prevented from taking advantage of FHA and VA loans which are credited for helping build the middle-class. The government invented redlining and looked away at bank policies designed to make things harder for Black people. This is but one example of the causes for the income and wealth gaps, not because of slavery that ended in 1865 but because of practices that exist to this day. Pick any major lender and look up their record of discrimination lawsuits. I believe in personal responsibility but also not looking away from the real odds stacked against people.
