My Return From Self-Imposed Exile

My Vacation Superseded My Writing

So I went on a European vacation with my wife for two weeks and didn’t write a single story. I had my laptop along; wi-fi access was at every hotel we stayed in, and I occasionally checked my stats, watching them decline steadily after submitting no stories for more than two weeks. I was inundated with ideas while traveling to Paris, London, Rome, and the south of France. But still, I wrote no stories.

My refusal to write was completely voluntary. The only pressure I faced was the knowledge that a once-in-a-lifetime vacation should be spent doing everything but spending time in an individual pursuit when there was quality time to be spent with my wife and experiencing real-life activities.

I did have plenty of ideas for stories that will manifest themselves in the next several days. I did allow myself the luxury of starting several stories with a title and sometimes a subtitle and picture. Here are some of the soon-to-be-published (after they’re written, of course) stories you can expect to see in the next couple of weeks:

“Still Not Writing About The Queen Yet, But I Have A Few Words About The Former Princess”

“Hotel Restaurant des Augustins”
