My opinion for what it’s worth is that open conversation is better than walking on eggshells. Should she bring the subject up again, be open about your own fears while expressing your desire to help her dig deeper. She can find any number of views on the Internet, some of which have no basis in truth, all of which might merit discussion in order to assure the proper perspective. I’m glad my kids have gotten past the teen years, now it’s the grandchildren that I can give back anytime I like.
