Max, you should come to Florida and write history books where the focus is on the role of abolitionists and the goodness of white people while ignoring what Black people experienced. No one is saying that no white people played a role in ending slavery. Some at great risk to themselves. Yet everything about this piece is historically accurate. I would only add that the end of slavery wasn't close to the end of the fight. Slavery was replaced by The Black Codes, which was replaced by Jim Crow, and now the hundreds of voter suppression laws targeting mostly Black people. Feel free to write your own piece about the contributions of white people, but don't insist others dilute their stories, which is exactly the point Allison was making.
