Madison wasn't freed except through Jefferson's will and not when he turned 21. Beverly and Harriet were never freed but finally left on their own years after turniong 21. You really don't know what consequences Sally would have faced for rejecting Jefferson, the possibilities range from being sold, to having her family sold, to being killed at the whim of her master (not saying Jefferson would kill her but he had the option). How would a pregnant Sally have suppported herself on her own in Paris?

I do have enough on Jefferson to dislike him already, but I won't excuse him for this thing either.
