Look at the laws individually. The ones supposed to prevent the concern about fraud though none actually exists. They all have multiple components, some designed to reduce the days one can vote (especially Sundays when Black people have traditionally had voting drives like “Souls to the polls.”). They reduce the number of polling locations in urban (read minority) communities. They make voting by mail harder, forcing people to wait in long lines that only happen in urban areas so they give up and don’t vote. The laws remove people from the rolls so they show up and can’t vote, some because they have names similar to felons like Fernandez, Lopez, Washington, etc. They know these laws adversely affect minorities because it has been studied. The gerrymandered districts are to achieve a specific result, nothing is left to chance. This story wasn’t intended to outline the specific attempts to suppress minority votes, just that the Supreme Court doesn’t give a damn.
