Japanese culture wouldn't have to have been portrayed any differently, it's the European culture being shown differently by excluding the Black people accompanying them.

As for Pandas, they are native to China and not Japan, they didn't arrive in Japan until 1972 when presented as a gift. If that visit were portrayed without mentioning the pandas, I might have an objection.
