It was the surrendering part that interested me. In addition, someone who needs to produce a birth certificate from another state to get an ID has to pay upwards of $50 to receive a certified copy in a timely fashion. In Alabama, they reduced access to the County drivers license bureau to one day a month, during the week, from 9-5 only in the counties with the most Black people. In some states they don't accept some state-issued voter ID cards like college ID's while readily accepting gun licenses. If the ID was easy to get and free (not a unconstitutional poll tax) I don't really have a problem with it.
