It should be said that the City of Ocoee is recognizing that the event happened while in my opinion trying to play down certain aspects like the death toll and effect on the black citizens. As an aside, many of those who were burned out went to an area in Orlando called “Jonestown” until the City had a better use for the land and forced them out with little compensation. Many of them moved to the Parramore District where they were again displaced with the construction of the original Orlando Arena.
