"It can't be possible that white people realise that racial equality benefits everyone including themselves."

While theoretically possible, it is highly unlikely and there's no evidence it's occurred on a large scale though some subsets like the Republican Party of the 1850s partially held siuch ideas for a while. When it came to testing those views vs. a more desirable goal. Those same people looked away from their values. I'm referring to the Compromise of 1877, Posse Comitatus, and the 144 years afterward.
