I'm very cynical about why the Union entered the was and why Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation because I listened to what Lincoln had to say about slavery, the war, and Black people. If you've read the transcripts of the Lincoln/Douglas debates you might question him as well.

I'm not saying there weren't sincere abolotionists in the North and South. Everyone part of the Underground Railroad risked their lives to help enslaved people reach freedom and I respect that.
