I think that preserving a set of lies when the truth is available is to perpetuate the ills the Founders cast in stone in the Constitution and the Federalist Papers. I don’t vilify them as being pure evil with no redeeming qualities. I choose not to forget what Jefferson, Lincoln, and others felt about black people and take that into consideration when viewing their actions including the compromises they made to allow slavery to prosper. Jefferson, in particular, did many things which when one is armed with facts you would have stay hidden, may be seen as improving the lot of Virginia slaveholders at the expense of even other slaveholders. He may have been violating the Emoluments clause well before Trump or others?
I can’t see any scenario where it’s better to perpetuate a lie than tell the truth when it comes to historical figures. Condemning me for telling these truths is frankly a waste of your time.
