I see no ambiguity at all in Jefferson. I consider him the most thoughtful of all the Founders, and he has expressed himself clearly on several subjects including slavery. His writings on human rights simply didn't apply to Black people. He did foresee that slavery would end one day and his plan was to send the freedmen to Liberia when that day came. He planned and implemented the end of the International Slave Trade as a protectionist move to raise the price of domestic-bred slaves, especially in the states with excess slaves including his own. He enriched himself by ending the importation of slaves.

I see Patrick Henry as a weak-minded and selfish man who acknowledged the benefit to himself was too great to end enslavement. Jefferson possessed the strength and cruelty to implement slave breeding and rape as an economic way of life.
