I never got as far north as Duluth; my mother and grandmother were part of the Eastern Star, which had rotational meetings there. I was supposed to go portaging in the boundary waters one summer, but I couldn’t go because there was a strike at my company, and managers couldn’t take any vacation during that period. It’s still on my bucket list, maybe one day?
