I honestly haven't seen an economic return from the Medium friends link. I allow some people to read stories that wouldn't otherwise but that's it.

Because of my base of Facebook friends and followers (5,000+) and the groups I belong to, not to mention Twitter. It seems impossible that I can't generate significantly more views on Vocal but whatever mechanism they use to record them skews the results.
