I enjoyed the Katz article because it gave me more new information (without full context) than anything I’ve seen of late. You have done more research on Taft than I and I accept your information though I still reserve the right to interpret it differently.
I’m providing an article on Taft and how he handled a situation with Black soldiers in San Antonio that protested Jim Crow. Maybe he was between a rock and a hard place, perhaps he didn’t demonstrate evidence of personally held racist views. But what he did not do was support the Black soldiers or work to eliminate Jim Crow. What good is it if he wasn’t personally racist if his decisions and policies were?
