I disagree with you that race isn’t a thing. It hasn’t always existed and it was invented more to separate classes so that they never conspired to take down the rich. In America, it was after Black indentured servants, white indentured servants, and Black enslaved people fought together and attacked Jamestown, Virginia. That was a combination of forces the wealthy never wanted to see again so they did away with indentured servitude, set up races and placed the lowest of white people who were arguably equal to their Black counterparts and placed them one rung above. What we have now resembles a caste system but race is definitely a factor.
