Her family history, although I’m black, doesn’t sound much different than mine. Family stories about being “part-Cherokee” and having Native-American ancestry. If I mention that on a document asking a question about ancestry, does that entitle someone to use it as a racial slur? Would you be comfortable calling anyone Pocahontas to their face? I have little doubt you’d recognize it to be improper and insulting, why defend it in someone else?
