Facebook/Meta Gives Customer Service a Bad Name
All it Would Take is a Little Effort
I'll start by saying I really appreciate the existence of Facebook. I know the name has officially changed to Meta, but I don't see why I have to change it as long as they continue using it in much of their material. Facebook is the reason I'm still in touch with many of my college and high school friends, and I am grateful for the connections. Facebook also provides some of the worst customer service known to humanity. They are worse than bad customer service, where you might get to communicate with an actual person.
I joined Facebook several years ago and slowly built a community of friends. About 25% of my friends I knew IRL, having attended school with them. Others I accrued because of common interests, including writing, school, history, and politics. I ultimately accumulated close to 5,000 friends, and there were multiple attempts to hack my account. I often had to change my password and was asked by Facebook if I was the person who made the change. Somewhere along the line, I may have acknowledged a change made by someone other than me. The next thing I knew, the account was stolen, and I no longer had access.
