Did Nat Turner succeed? Yes he did. It cost him and others their nlives but the combined effect of the Haitian Revolution, German Coast Rebellion, Gabriel Prosser Revolt, Denmark Vesey Rebellion and dozens of others sent a message that enslaving Black people was unacceptable and another way had to be found. Would you have them simply accept their fate in a docile manner, waiting for white people to change their minds?
Looking for a similar American experience was about relatability. It has to do with American Exceptionalism only in the sense that most Americans have little sense of world history and wouldn't grasp a situation elsewhere in the world. I agree American Exceptionalism is a thing and not a good one but not applicable here.
The short term result of the Hamas attack will be the death of several times the number of Palestinians than Israelis, but the world is watching and it's no longer enough that America supports everything Israel does, even if they disagree. Things may eventually get better for Palestinians in Gaza, they may not. The Hamas attack wasn't a good answer, but neither was the status quo.
