Consider yourself fully indoctrinated. BTW, couls Sally Hemings say no without the threat of consequence to herself and her whole extended family. She would be aware of the beatings of slaves in the nailery at Monticello. Ask yourself, what could Jefferson do if she said no? She was a child, Abigail Adams said she was less mature than Jefferson's 9-year-old daughter when she stopped in London on her way to Paris. Because it likely didn't involve violence, that doesn't mean it wasn't rape. She couldn't say no, neither could her mother or grandmother when master came calling.
