Almost no state schools get federal research grants, the HBCU I know best, Fisk University, is one of the top feeder schools to medical and dental schools and does get some federal grants but nothing in comparison to other schools of similar size. What I'm saying is the grants, even to schools witha liberal arts concentration, get less than their white counterparts.
